VBS 2020

This summer, our Vacation Bible School at Gateway Church had to be modified for obvious reasons. Rather than our traditional “let’s gather with 600+ friends for a week of fun, praising Jesus and learning more about Him together” approach, we needed to come up with a pandemic appropriate VBS. What resulted was our “VBS at Home” experience. Much prayer, planning, and preparation were put into the videos that were recorded and the packets that were custom built for each child registered. We had 123 families register a total of 280 participating children for our “VBS at Home”.

Although we didn’t get to meet in person and experience the excitement and energy of hundreds of kids gathered together, the message of the gospel was still communicated. Children learned that Jesus is our strong foundation and we need to build our lives on Him. The memory verse for the week was Philippians 1:6 “I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ.” Don’t you just love that verse? God is not finished with us yet! He loves us and will continue to work in our lives and hearts. Not only is that a great lesson for our kids, it is a great reminder for us too.
