Is Your Family Too Busy for 10 Minutes with Jesus?

At Gateway Church on Sunday mornings, all our children from our 2 year old class up through the 8th grade class learn about the same Bible lesson. Of course the preschoolers are learning at a different level than the middle schoolers, but if you have children in various classes, they are all on the same Bible story. This makes it easier for you as parents to review and reinforce at home what your children have learned at church.

Elementary and preschool parents, did you know that with a click of a button you can review at home what your children are learning on Sunday mornings? The Gospel Project for Kids @ Home is a resource designed to fuel family discipleship in your home in partnership with what kids are learning at church. Each week you can access new content that relates with what is being taught in Kidway.

Whether you have been discipling for years or are just getting started, The Gospel Project @ Home is designed to give you a realistic, yet meaningful, starting point of one night a week family worship that you can build from and make it your own. All you have to do is choose a day and a time for a weekly family worship experience that allows your family to be as consistent as possible. Use the materials provided to engage in an experience that lasts about 10-15 minutes or one that can be longer if you desire. All you need is The Gospel Project @ Home and a Bible.

In addition to reviewing the Bible story that was taught on Sunday, two activities related to what your family is talking about are suggested each week. One activity is for your family to enjoy and the other is for your family to serve in some way as you live out the gospel in your community.

Middle school parents, did you know that your children also receive content each week that they can use at home? If your student attends the Middle School Sunday School Class, they receive a packet during their lesson and it includes a 5 day daily devotion. It starts with the 7 Arrows of Bible Reading (which you can use for any passage in the Bible). Then each day has a short passage to read and 3 questions to get your student thinking. It could be helpful to go through these short questions with your student to unpack what they wrote.

Developing a habit of discipleship as a family can help set your children up for keeping these habits as they go into adulthood. Today is a great day to start!
