We want to thank the Gateway Church family for having us at VBS this year. For those of you that weren’t a part of VBS week, we want to share a little about our family. We are the Hansons: Chris, Rachel, Ava (11), Hallie (8), and Joshua (5). Our family is preparing to serve on the mission field among the Baka people in Cameroon, West Africa. Chris will be translating the Bible and Rachel will be working on literacy.
There are about 50,000 Baka speakers, and they do not yet have the Bible in their own language! We are thankful for your partnership as a church in helping us bring God’s word to this people group. Our family will be leaving for Cameroon on July 26 to start a three-year term in Cameroon. As you can imagine, this move brings a lot of changes as we adjust to a new country and new culture. Please pray that we would have negative Covid tests before our departure, for a smooth transition for our family, and for our language learning. Also, pray that the Baka people would have open hearts toward hearing the gospel.
Finally, we want to say thank you for the overwhelming generosity toward the Baka well project during VBS week. Gateway raised a total of $5855.54 which is enough money to fund two well projects in two different villages! These wells will have a significant impact on the day to day lives of the Baka people.
