Serving: A Great Way to Connect

If you are here on any given Sunday, you will more than likely interact with one of our highly-valued volunteers. They greet you in the parking lot and at the doors as you come into the building. If you have children, you will more than likely be welcomed by one of our Kidway teachers as you drop off your kids. Then it's off to the cafe for some coffee or tea that is served to you with a smile that is as warm as your beverage before you head to the Worship Center. As soon as you enter the room, you are once again met with a friendly hello and an offer to help you find a seat. Once the service begins, you are led by another group of people who are mostly volunteers and give of their time to serve God. These are some of the most talented but humble people you will ever meet. Oh, and by the way, this doesn't just include the people you can see. There are men and women that run cameras, light, slides, and a sound system so that things are done with excellence. Did you know there are also many volunteers who serve to prepare for the upcoming weekly services as well as those who teach short-term classes, help at Kingdom Kids, lead a Life Group and pray for the needs of our congregation all week long?

So why do I tell you all of that? Well, I have two reasons. First, it gives me a chance to brag about the amazing army of people that make things go so well during our weekend services. Without them, we could not do what we do. If you are one of those many people, I am so thankful for you and all you do. Secondly, I want to challenge you to ask the people you worship with if they serve. One thing I can say with confidence is that if anyone that calls Gateway Church home is committed to a Life Group but still feels disconnected, the best way to close the gap is to get involved in serving in some way on the weekend. We have something for everyone. If you are interested in learning more about ways you can serve, fill out the “I’m Interested in Serving Form” and someone will be in touch with you. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. I would love to hear from you.
