Volunteer Extravaganza Recap 2024

Written by: Joe Sherrieb, Life Group Director

Last month, after an intense and rewarding Vacation Bible School week, Gateway Church held its much-anticipated annual Volunteer Extravaganza. This event is our way of shouting a huge "Thank You!" to the incredible volunteers who serve our church body with perseverance throughout the year.

The Volunteer Extravaganza was nothing short of an incredible celebration. I always love the atmosphere of these events each year — filled with laughter and connectedness. The highlight? Several food trucks with a ton of great food options like smoked meat, burritos, gyros, hamburgers and hotdogs — not to mention the baklava for dessert.

And let's not forget the bouncy houses. These inflatables of fun weren't just for the kids. Many adults, including yours truly, couldn't resist the temptation to experience some childhood euphoria.

But beyond the food and fun, the Volunteer Extravaganza was a heartfelt tribute to our volunteers. They are the lifeblood of Gateway Church. Their dedication, time, and effort are what keep our church thriving and able to fulfill the work that God has called us to do. Whether it's teaching Sunday school, leading worship, serving in the cafe, greeting in the parking lot, or changing dirty diapers, our volunteers are always ready to serve with a smile.

As we gathered together, shared delicious food, and enjoyed each other's company, we were reminded of the true meaning of fellowship. It's about coming together as the body of Christ, supporting one another, and celebrating the blessings we've been given by our Creator.

If you would love to get involved in serving our brothers and sisters in Christ on Sunday mornings or even during the week, visit gatewayepc.org/serve or visit the Resource Center at either campus for more info. We can help you put our giftings and passions to good use for the Kingdom!

So here's to our volunteers—thank you for all that you do. Your commitment and passion are what make Gateway Church a place of love, hope, and joy. We couldn't do it without you, and we are incredibly grateful for your service. Until next year's extravaganza, let's keep the spirit of service and fellowship alive!
