Whenever there is a discussion about raising Godly families, Deuteronomy 6:4-9 is always a favorite passage “go-to” passage.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, NIV)

One thing we, as Gateway’s Next Gen staff, encourage parents to do is to make the most of those “sitting at home, lying down, and getting up” moments. These times are already a part of your daily routines, so those are great opportunities to initiate conversations that point your kids to Jesus. Here is a list of 52 fun dinnertime conversation starters for you to use with your family. Some are more serious than others, and some are more spiritual than others, but all of them help you get to know your kids better and can lead to stronger family bonds.
