Being real is being authentic. Believe it or not, authentic relationships provide some of the greatest joys of life. Yes, God created us for relationships and wants us to experience them at their best. Whether we are introverts or extroverts, we all need a place where we can share failures, successes, shortcomings and strengths, or where we can reveal our doubts and fears. It all starts with being honest - honest with others and honest with ourselves. In Ephesians 4:14-16 and 25, the apostle Paul calls us to be “speaking the truth in love” and to “put off falsehood and speak truthfully.” We see that truth-telling is a sign of maturity in our relationships. We will also discover that if we want to build rich relationships it requires a real desire to live an authentic Christian life.
