Wow, What a Christmas! It was so awesome to see the pouring out of love, and generosity from our congregation. We started off with Kidway supplying and shipping out over two hundred Christmas shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. We then supplied presents for forty kids (16 families) through Angel Tree. If you don’t know, Angel Tree works with men and women who are incarcerated to be able to supply gifts for their children. What a great ministry!
Another opportunity we had was working with Open Arms to supplies Christmas presents for women and children that are dealing with domestic violence. Our congregation stepped up and did a great job of providing all that was asked for. And let me say this, the families didn’t ask for frivolous things, most items that were asked for were items to help them get back on their feet.
Over at our North Main campus, they took thirty-eight kids from Glenwood Middle School shopping for coats boots, shoes, and some clothing, then ended the day by having a pizza party. Then to top it off, we partnered with a local ministry (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) a national ministry (Bridges - Reaching Muslims in the Detroit area) and a Global ministry (Lily House in the Dominican Republic - rescuing women from the sex trafficking industry) to bless them with our Christmas Eve offering. And for our Christmas Eve offering we challenged you to give big, and give big you did. We received $59,021.93 in our offering! Can you believe it? That is huge and a huge blessing to theses three ministries. We ended up rounding the money up to $60,000 so each ministry received a check for $20,000!
1 Timothy 6:18 says, "Instruct them to do what is good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, willing to share." Thanks so much for obeying the Scriptures and being a blessing this past Christmas. I can’t wait to see and hear how we top that in 2018!
