Q&A Heart Problems: Love God

You said that if you here because God has rescued you from your heart, from ur self.....if this is the case why do I always feel not good enough, and like I fail. 

In the sermon on Feb. 3-4, I said: "Following Jesus is not just about who you say you are. It's about who God says you are. It's about the heart God's given you. It's about God capturing your heart." I continued to say: "If you're here today and know that God has captured your heart...He's captured your heart because He's your hero. He's rescued you from the destruction of yourself." The point I was trying to make is that our own hearts lead us to embrace feelings that just aren't true or good (i.e. feelings of self-worth, feelings about failures). Rather, God's truth (His Word) proclaims what we need to hear in order for God to capture our hearts. The Bible talks about Jesus being the hero, who rescues us from our own destruction. It's when we're informed by this worldview and embrace it that God gets ahold of our hearts.

Does anyone really deserve to Communion? We all fall so short 

 No. No one deserves the Lord's Supper. It's a gift of grace that God has given those who have trusted in Christ. In the sermon, I read the Apostle Paul's warning from 1 Corinthians 11:27-29, indicating that we should all examine our hearts before participating in the Lord's Supper. We examine our hearts by asking God if there's any unconfessed sin or ways that we should turn in faith towards Him. If so, we need to confess our sins to God and turn in faith toward Him. We receive the Lord's Supper to celebrate and remember what Jesus did for us, which we could not do for ourselves (because we all fall so short).
