Be Still...

Hanging out with the Kindergarteners this week at VBS, I was reminded of the one Scripture that was partially spoken into my life every day, “Be still, Eddie.” As I remember how much of a handful I was, I smile, because I don’t know about you, but I still hear as an adult, “Eddie, be still and know I am God.” Today, I’m just distracted by different things like bills, work, and family. I'm sure that when the writer penned the words of Psalms 46:10 it was during a time of eminent worry and stress. God is funny like that. His Word always brings us back to center, even if it is just for a moment.

Some of us need to simply stop and be still. I understand life is crazy right now, but those things will always be there. The stuff in our heads that keep us awake at night will never go away, sorry. We are like a car battery, fully charged we can go, go, go. But life can zap us of our energy, love, and hope. If we don’t stop to recharge, we become weary and not very productive. Just like a car without a fully charged power source, it’s not moving. We need to make sure that we are going to the ultimate source of power in the world - God the Father. Listen for His voice, stop trying to run with your battery warning light flashing, plug in and recharge.
