How long have you attended Gateway?...been a volunteer in Gateway’s Next Gen ministry?

Our family has attended Gateway for almost 3 years. I've served in the Next Gen ministry for a year and a half.

In what capacity do you volunteer?

I volunteer in the nursery at North Main and will occasionally substitute teach in the preschool room. I also serve as a greeter.

Why did you initially volunteer to serve with kids/youth?

As a mom of 2 young kids, I appreciate having a fun and loving environment to send my kids to while I worship. I just wanted to help fill a need and give back to a ministry to continues to serve me and my family.

What do you enjoy most about serving with kids/youth?

I love getting to see how much the kids grow and change week after week.

Do you have a favorite ministry memory of working with students at Gateway?

I was initially hesitant to work in the preschool room, but the kids in that age range are so sweet and funny. They love to share anything and everything about their lives - from their favorite Bible story to their newest dance moves. It's also really fun to see kids that age interact with each other and start forming friendships.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not connecting kids to Jesus Christ and to one another?

I love spending time with my family, reading and baking with my kids.

What would you say to someone who has been feeling a tug to serve, but who hasn’t taken the plunge yet?

Just give it a try. It is actually very rewarding! In the nursery, even a once monthly commitment would be a huge help.
