If you have watched the news over the last year, you have seen and heard about the many people who have come to the United States looking for a better life for themselves and their families. We have noticed an influx of these individuals in our community as well. There are currently thousands of people from all over the world living in Findlay and surrounding towns. We have a large group of Hispanics and Haitians looking for work, housing, furniture, and food. We have also seen many international students worshiping with us at both of our campuses. So, after some conversations and seeing a great need, the Go Team has decided to develop ways to step into the gap and help these people. In our research, we discovered the greatest need was for them to learn English as a second language. Because of the language barrier, they are being taken advantage of and are not able to get jobs or the help they need. We are starting some ESL classes and are looking for tutors. No experience is needed, and you do not have to know how to speak their language. Just a heart willing to teach and build relationships with people from another culture or background. This is an excellent opportunity to gain cultural intelligence and be the hands and feet of Jesus without leaving Hancock County! We are also looking for people to help the international students at the University of Findlay. The university is looking to start a Bible study on campus and needs mattresses for incoming students.
