Transgenderism. LGBTQ+. Transitioning. Nonbinary.
These are just a few vocabulary terms associated with the trans movement. Through social media, television shows, movies, and even public schools, children are being introduced to many of these concepts. Issues like transgenderism can be heavy and heartbreaking. Thankfully there are resources available to help us gain understanding and practical applications that are rooted in God’s Word.
This week’s resources come from Answers in Genesis- an apologetics ministry that is dedicated to helping Christians defend their faith and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. The Heart of the Trans Movement Part 1: “Children Should Lead” uses the story of a woman whose family life exemplified one of the core beliefs within the trans movement- the belief that children should lead. This idea is connected to the belief that the child should be given the lead when it comes to finding their gender identity. Parents are not to persuade a child towards one gender or another but rather give them the freedom to decide according to their feelings. This is completely opposite of what scripture teaches about the role of parents in the lives of their children.
Part two of this series, … Seven Choices Parents Can Make to Protect their Children, expands upon the information shared in the original article but focuses more on practical steps parents can take. In addition to protective choices to implement, the author provides additional insight into the hurt and heartache that can come from a quick decision that has long-term consequences. Each of these articles is helpful independently but is even better when read together.
